How ’bout a cup of tea?
You know that moment when you’re meeting someone for tea (or coffee, whatever the preference) and you step into the cafe, place your order, sit down, and they ask you simply how you’re doing? And suddenly you are pouring out your life story as if all of these words, feelings, and stories have been bottled up inside you for so long you can’t even organize or get everything straight. And suddenly, every thought you’ve kept squared away in your cluttered mind is out there–and it’s perhaps the most vulnerable, freeing feeling you’ve ever known.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been writing. From my very first 2nd grade fuzzy blue diary, to the embarrassing fanfics and notebook series I scribbled in religiously from 6th grade to senior year of high school, and all of the emotional Xanga/Livejournal/Tumblr posts and journals I kept in between… I’ve been writing to record my thoughts and whereabouts for so long. And that’s where this blog started. Over the years, with all that has happened in and around my life, I’ve been sure to keep everything private. Where it’s safe.
Here’s to taking a leap and finally, truly, putting my authentic self (including my adventures, ideas, likes, dislikes, hobbies, opinions, and my faith) out there on this blog. There are things I know to be true, and there are still things I’m still trying to figure out–my theories.
Come sit, and have a cup of tea (or coffee, whatever your preference) with me.
You’re more than welcome to stay.
ABOUT THIS BLOG: Welcome to my tiny, creative corner of the internet. I write about everything from short stories to arts and culture pieces, to current events and social trends. Everything here is 100% my own, and does not necessarily (but maybe sometimes) reflect the views of the guest writers in town.
ABOUT ALLYSON RAE: I’m a recent graduate of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA, with a Bachelor of Arts in English/Journalism. I enjoy hot tea, good conversation, blogging, and books; lots of books. At 23 years old, I am currently pursuing my passions – telling stories, traveling, writing, community, journeying in & living out my faith. I currently work that 9-to-5 life as a writer/reporter for a community newspaper, and live in a small town somewhere near Los Angeles with my parents and two dogs.
Oh, and my usual is a chai tea latte. Hot or iced, depending on the day.
